Migraine is a debilitating disease. Chronic Migraine is at times unbearable, and often misunderstood.
The first HAWM (Health Activists Writer's Month) Challenge is to write an acrostic about your focused health condition. Today, I chose Migraine because it is so misunderstood and is such a challenge itself to live with. To find out what today's challenge is and to see what other's have created you can go to today's challenge post.
Management is key to living well with Migraine Disease.
Interrupting a Migraine attack as early as possible with medication is important.
Growing numbers of patients are being identified as Migraineurs thanks to aggressive awareness campaigns.
Reaching out to other Migraineurs can help patients learn about their own disease.
All Migraineurs are not alike, and each of their Migraine attacks can be different too.
Intractable Migraine is one of the best reasons to seek the help of a headache specialist.
Never give up looking for answers. There is no cure for Migraine, but we CAN learn to manage and live with it.
Education is the means by which patients should be encouraged to find answers.
Stress does NOT CAUSE Migraine - a neurological disease - but it can contribute to the process of an attack.
Helpful friends and family are precious as gold and rare as jewels.
Understanding Migraine Disease is difficult if you are not a sufferer.
Remember your triggers and avoid them whenever possible.
Thwarting the Migraine Beastie takes often patience and perseverance... and a very big stick. Planning ahead will get you everywhere!
Thank you to mom's Yin Yoga instructor who inspired this post today. It's too bad stress doesn't cause Migraine, as that would be a very, very simple fix. *sigh* :)
